Use and Care

Xtrema ceramic cookware is easy to use and even easier to clean. There are four main things to consider when using Xtrema Pure Ceramic Cookware:

  1. Heating - it's always best to start with a low temperature and gradually work up to medium heat. Because Xtrema conducts and retains heat really well, there is no need to use high heat on the stovetop. Rapid or extreme temperature variations can compromise the integrity of your cookware or even cause a thermal crack - so be careful not to put frozen foods or cold water into heated pans.
  2. Cooking - keep your pans lightly oiled and use nylon, silicone or wood utensils to prolong the life of your ceramic cookware. Metal utensils won't scratch the surface, but we prefer other non-reactive options. You will find Xtrema to be very versatile: use it in the oven, on the stovetop, in the microwave, on the barbecue. The possibilities are endless.
  3. Cleaning - even though Xtrema is dishwasher safe, we like to hand wash using a mild detergent with a non-metal scour pad or natural fiber scrub brush. For the tough bits, you can add a little baking soda to the pan. For gentle cleaning, use any type of silicone brush or scrubbing pad. Our ceramic surface is harder than metal so it can't be scratched - but best not to try.
  4. Storing - we like to stack our cookware using specially designed polyester Cookware Protectors. Or, display Xtrema proudly in your kitchen - our products are beautifully handcrafted, so show them off by leaving them out.

My favorite pot

I use my Xtrema skillet for cooking almost everything I make. It’s easy to clean and I feel good cooking with it knowing no chemicals or heavy metals are leaching into our foods.

versatile "super-skillet"

Love the way this can go from top of stove to oven to table, then afterwards even fits in my refrig to store leftovers, since it has no long handle. Cleans easily--just soak in hot water about 5 min., then clean with sponge & dishsoap, plus some baking soda if needed. I use it more often than any other cooking item I own, so is a favorite for sure.

I love the 10 in versa skillet

This is the perfect size. I have a 12 inch too, for larger meals. This 10 inch is better for regular sized meals. We cook vegetarian with low or no oil. I just use a little water on the bottom of the pan. It works great for sautéing vegetables.

I love the size and weight of this skillet.

Perfect

I’m older so I don’t need iron much. I needed pots not made of metal. Xtrema is the only brand I found that was solid ceramic. It is beautiful to wipe clean and leave on the stove. Almost as quick to clean as my old favorite iron skillet. I still work at getting the temperature hot enough to brown meats. I discovered my electric stove needs the knob a little hotter than medium to be great but good still for the skillet. Even after accidentally using high heat and burning food it cleaned up like new.
